Lucinda drying her hair Izabella’s is the pride and joy of Lucinda and Joe Heuschkel. We settled in Southern Vermont after vagabonding throughout California (with stints in San Francisco, the Central Coast, and Pasadena), the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Along the way, we bartended, waitressed, cooked, prepped, hostessed, worked in public relations and marketing, wrote advertising and catalog copy and taught third grade. All of which are the perfect combination for running a restaurant. Throughout all our adventures, we maintained a love of good food, an environmental conscience, and a fistful of time-honored family recipes, from which we have developed and refined our offerings to a core menu of delightful and innovative dishes crafted with care from fresh, local and seasonal organic ingredients. Izabella’s approach is to bring an awareness of good healthy food from local resources to our customers in a really cool environment.

A plaque that hung on the kitchen wall throughout childhood provided inspiration for our philosophy toward hospitality.
